about

Riding on the magic bus The Sunchaser through the wilds of Carolina, New England, the Rockies, and finally back down the Cascades into the Cali coast, late one night — our last night on the road — when I thumbed through a quiet "In My Life" revamp. The voice-leading descending bassline originally defined the outline of the song, and as the words and melody came so did the other sections. Earnestly dedicated to Lady Feather at that moment in time.

lyrics

LADY FEATHER

Lady Feather, if you ever hear another word that I say,
Lady Feather, please remember,
I’ll be true to you till the end of my days,
Even when the stars start to fade

Coming summer days, early mornings with nothing to do
Slowly wander away like the new evening dew

Oh I can’t take more than I am given,
And I have vowed to give my heart to you
In sunshine days played in lazy rhythm
Where I have vowed to give my heart to you

So we dance and sway to another midsummer night’s dream
In this golden state where we play, hide away

Oh I can’t take more than I am given,
And I have vowed to give my heart to you
In sunshine days played in lazy rhythm
Where I have vowed to give my heart to you
No, I can’t take more than I am given,
And I have vowed to give my heart to you
In sunshine days played in lazy rhythm
Where I have vowed to give my heart to you
I have vowed to give my heart to you
I have vowed to give my heart to you
I have vowed to give my heart to you
I have vowed to give my heart to you

So Lady Feather, please remember,
I have vowed to give my heart to you.
