The Pouring Rain

A very simple song with a very simple story:

We'd finished a gig at the Blue Lamp in Sacto and were posted up at a buddy's house playing cards and smoking Parliaments, when out of nowhere the sky opened up and dumped a huge quantity of rain on our guest cabin. Since I was the last man standing (as I often was), I delighted in the private recital from nature, and imagine God's teardrops were pounding on the shingles above. So I decided to sing one back.

A million little pindrops
Fallin' on my rooftop
I hear the pouring rain

Sun
I wish it would surround me
The golden rays would drown me
Instead of pouring rain

Summer days are made in the shade
But they washed away
All that's left for me to do
Is paint the sky in shades of blue, and
